What is the Triangular Trade Route?
The Triangular Trade route is a three-sided trade route. It is a term describing the trade between the Americas, England and Africa. The trading went from England to Africa, Africa to the Americas, then the Americas back to England.
What Materials Were Traded?
The materials that were traded between England and Africa included; iron products, cloth, trinkets and beads, copper, guns, and ammunition. The materials that were traded from Africa to the Americas were slaves, but they did have other materials such as, spices, gold, ivory, and feathers. These items, though, were meant to go to Europe. The West Indies were also apart of this route and they traded slaves, sugar, molasses, and fruits. There were quite a few different trade routes within the Triangular Trade Route. The first trade route led from England to Africa to the Americas. The second led from England to Africa to the West Indies. The third was from Europe to the West Indies to the Americas. The final one was from the americas to the West Indies to Europe.

The Slave Trade
Slavery has existed in Africa ever since ancient times. Once the English got involved with the Slave Trade, the pattern of the Triangular Trade route was formed; Ships from England would travel to Africa, then ships from Africa would go to the Americas, and finally ships from the Americas would go back to England. After the 3rd stop, the process would start all over again. Sir John Hawkins was the first to run the Triangular Trade route across the Atlantic and was able to make money at every stop. He was known as the pioneer of the British Slave Trade. http://www.landofthebrave.info/triangular-trade.htm
